The question
A future development area appears to experience low pressure during peak demand. The task is to identify a defensible servicing response. This example describes a process; it contains no measured results or approved design.
Diagnose before sizing
Confirm the customer allocation, elevation data, source head and valve configuration. Inspect upstream reservoir drawdown and transfer limitations. Compare the affected locations and timing with the system operating cycle.
Compare three option families
- Operations: change a verified control or transfer arrangement where practicable.
- Conveyance: upgrade or parallel the limiting main.
- Staged supply: combine an interim solution with a later augmentation triggered by growth.
What a defensible conclusion needs
Re-run each option under the same demand and outage scenarios. Compare service outcomes, operating implications, constructability and lifecycle costs. Document dependencies and residual risk. A passing normal-demand snapshot is not sufficient evidence of long-term resilience.
